About HiViZ JamZ
HiViz Jamz was born during the COVID apocalypse of 2020. What had previously been a garage, a workshop, a storage space, then finally a Jam space for at least two years prior to COVID, was eventually to become a full-time jam space and a live streaming/performance studio.
Some of our team had been involved in a large-scale international tour that was cancelled in 2020 due to Covid. We quickly became aware of the losses and risks going forward and it became obvious that for the next year or two, live music and the music industry in general were going to suffer heavily, along with hospitality.
With the lack of performance spaces available post the first lockdown, and the rise in popularity of live streaming, it seemed like the obvious way forward. Our first initial livestreams were done from a phone just to test the waters, and were gratefully received. As Covid restrictions went into year two, and now approaching a third year running with no end in sight, we decided it was time to really get serious about live streaming. We bought all the necessary visual and lighting equipment and upgraded everything we had, including new amps and drums.
We now have a team of 6 knowledgeable musicians/technicians with experience in all facets of the NZ music industry. Our collective experience ranges from studio recording some of NZ’s top artists, such as Grove Roots, Sianne Doherty, Rain-NZ and Valley Kids, to managing, promoting, touring and logistics in NZ and overseas for New Zealand’s The Pink Floyd Experience. Song writing, distribution, marketing, branding, and social media promotion are also some of our broad range of talents.
What We do
Wednesday Night Jams – Young Guns
We run a regular Wednesday night jam called “Young Guns”, where we facilitate lesser-experienced musicians to play and jam with other young musicians. The music is generally groove oriented with elements of Funk, Hip Hop, Rap, Rock, Disco, Reggae and Blues, with the occasional cover thrown in. We record and live stream these Jams, and then do some post production and upload the best clips to our You Tube channel.
Saturday Night Jams
We also host Saturday Night Jams. These Jams are similar to Wednesdays but feature more experienced musicians and often go very late. These jams feature some of Wellington Region’s best musicians, and offer a good 4-5 hours of improvised off-the-cuff jamming. These jams are also streamed and the best clips are uploaded to our You Tube channel.
Guest Nights
We also host guest bands during the week on a regular basis and utilise some different variations on themes like Acoustic Nights, Ladies Nights and Comedy, to keep our content really fresh and exciting throughout the year.
Live Streams
Our live streams can be accessed through our Patreon page with our supporters contributing varying levels of support for access which helps us to be able to continue to do what we do; bring you the best possible live-jammed music and bands, direct to your place!
We also offer the live streaming space for hire for artists and bands, who can stream to our channel, to their own channel, or create a live recording or video clip. We have different packages available depending on what you require. Our pricing is excellent and our hospitality is second to none.
We also plan to offer workshops, tutoring, band school, and advice on recording, publishing and promoting your music and building your brand.
